JOB SUMMARY

This person will be reporting to the designated managers and supervisors onsite. This person will operate motor vehicles on and off auction premises safely for transport, pickup and delivery in support of auction activities. Each driver must properly document all activities as required by law and company policies and procedures and must remain in compliance with those laws, policies and procedures set forth by the Company as well as the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Must have current CDL, updated medical examiners certificate and a clean 3-year driving record.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Provide excellent customer service:

  • Make sure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention from all employees.
  • Be familiar with procedures for handling all aspects of customer questions, complaints or disputes.

Driving and Safety:

  • Perform various pick-up and delivery duties and other tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor in support of daily auction activities.
  • Operate motor vehicles safely and practice conservative, cautious, and courteous driving habits.
  • Perform safety inspections as required by DOT and maintaining a DOT driver log.
  • Maintain and assure good operating condition of all equipment and facilities. Inform the manager or supervisor of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately.
  • Make sure the area conditions do not threaten employee or customer safety. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
  • Immediately report to Manager and/or Supervisor anything that occurs which may potentially jeopardize your ability to physically or legally operate a motor vehicle. i.e. – Suspension of License
  • Immediately report to the Manager or Supervisor all driving related incidents, including traffic citations, warnings, accidents or mechanical problems experienced on either private or public property, on or off the job.
  • Must comply with third party administrator – JJ Keller.
  • Must be available to drive on Heavy Duty Truck Sale Day during the sale if applicable.

Other:

  • Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
  • Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must possess a current medical card and a clear 3-year driving record.
  • Must successfully pass and remain in compliance with the JJ Keller Team.
  • Ability to work variable schedules/shifts and long hours.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather and conditions.
  • Must not be under the influence of any condition or substance that could distract or impair the ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must submit to and pass controlled substance investigation and testing in accordance with DOT and FMCSA Regulations. Will be included in a quarterly random drug screen and breath alcohol testing pool.
  • Must be insured and/or insurable if required by the state.
  • Must not have a motor vehicle record or criminal record that does not meet the minimum standards set by company policy and the DOT / FMCSA.
  • Must be able to drive 1 car hauler.

Physical Working Conditions

This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with internal and external service station/convenience food and petroleum dispensing operations.
