Position Summary

Purpose

The execution of Advanced Non-Destructive Testing techniques to ascertain conditioning monitoring of components as directed by Management or Supervisors. Assist Technical Management Team with technology development and inspection enquiries. Carry out competency training for Advanced NDT personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities

Functions

ESSENTIAL

  • Execute Advanced NDT techniques as listed below on items of static equipment and associated piping.
  • Ad-hoc Advanced NDT inspections as directed by Management or Supervisors.
  • Training and qualification for NDT techniques to subordinates.
  • Assist with Business Development requirements including attending open days and/or workshops.
  • Produce detailed reports showing the areas inspected and the results obtained.
  • Lead, support, and coordinate Advanced NDT inspection programs and/or personnel.
  • Ensure all Testing and Reporting requirements complies with Oceaneering procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and complies with Oceaneering procedures.
  • Ensure all mandatory assigned training modules are completed within a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is executed in accordance with Oceaneering Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems

NON-ESSENTIAL

  • The list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake tasks that may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post
  • Assist with any other duties as and when required
  • Undertake specific projects as instructed by management
  • Travelling alone or as part of a team to global client locations

Safety

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable to ensure a safe working environment.

Actively participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks as required by company and client.

Ensure that Safety procedures are always adhered to and that required documentation is kept updated.

Other

Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.

Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, you will be expected to lead, supervisor and coordinate NDT activities. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work. Ensuring compliance with all HSE requirements and supporting Management or Supervisors for all NDT related activities

REQUIRED

  • PCN / CSWIP / level 2 - Ultrasonic Testing. 
  • PCN / CSWIP / level 2 – Ultrasonic Testing Guided Wave Inspection.
  • PCN / CSWIP / level 2 – Phased Array - Ultrasonic Inspection
  • PCN / CSWIP / level 2 – Pulsed Eddy Current Inspection
  • PCN / CSWIP / level 2 – TOFD - Ultrasonic Testing.
  • IRATA Level 1 / 2 or 3 Rope Access
  • Offshore medical, BOSIET / Offshore Survival certification
  • Confined Space Entry training
  • Non-Standard NDT Qualification and Training in various techniques and to hold the appropriate level of certification.

NOTE: In the Qualification required must hold 2 of the techniques depending on the scope of work.

DESIRED

  • PCN / CSWIP / ASNT - ET - level 2 - Eddy Current Testing.
  • PCN / CSWIP / ASNT - VT - level 2 - Visual Inspection
  • HND in an associated Engineering discipline

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Fluent in reading and writing English. (E)
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent, (E)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in corrosion monitoring / mapping. (E)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Ultrasonic Testing Guided Wave Inspection in the Oil and Gas Industry. (E)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Phased Array inspection in the Oil and Gas Industry utilizing Rope Access. (E)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Pulsed Eddy Current inspection in the Oil and Gas Industry. (E)
  • Familiar with QA/QC systems/procedures and NDT techniques.
  • Previous experience of coaching and mentoring. (P)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suits. (P)
  • Gives and receives constructive feedback while coaching and mentoring activities.
  • Ensures that regular consistent communication takes place within the work group.

Working Conditions

This position is considered ONSHORE/OFFSHORE which is characterized as follows

:

  • Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment
  • Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases. 
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
