Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) Division of Aeronautics seeks an experienced pilot to serve as our Aviation Operations Chief. This exciting position provides the opportunity to serve in both a pilot and managerial role while maintaining a regular and predictable schedule that will allow for a healthy work-life balance. The Division of Aeronautics operates and manages a 2014 King Air C90GTx to support state government travel needs.

Hiring Range: $45.673 - $68.510 per hour. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
Job Duties:
The Aviation Operations Chief provides professional piloting of a state-owned aircraft for the transportation requirements of the Governor, legislature, judiciary, and other state agencies and personnel. The successful candidate will possess the ability to fly a complex, high-performance, multi-engine turbo-prop aircraft as pilot-in-command in all weather conditions while maintaining passenger safety, confidence, and comfort. Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: High school education or equivalent plus a combination of experience in commercial aviation teaching and supervisory experience; or Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, public administration or related field plus a combination of experience in commercial aviation, teaching and supervisory experience; commercial aircraft operations license with instrument and multi-engine rating required; at least 3000 hours of combined related flying time.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of: flight operations including pilot training, qualification, and certification; federal and state regulations covering aviation; crew resource management; safety management systems; and records management.
Skills in: decision-making and problem-solving; risk analysis; and aircraft operation.
Ability to: communicate effectively with all levels of personnel; analyze aviation data and other related information as it relates to flight operations.
