The opportunity

The head of FP&A is responsible for strategic financial management, leading all financial processes and analysis for global R&D. the senior director provides long-term planning for R&D pipeline that serves the company strategy. The incumbent works across R&D functions supporting innovative medicines, generics and biosimilar development projects with clear objective to boost speed, flexibility, accuracy, quality and alignment across all R&D finance functions.

Initiates and leads complex financial processes with aim to streamline and simplify those while focusing on delivering services of greater range and value and support management decision-making. 

The FP&A lead is a pivotal player in transforming R&D finance to support the new mode of operation in finance and GBS penetration as well as supporting design and implementation of new financial processes and systems

How you’ll spend your day

  • Leads and manages all financial processes (monthly/quarterly closing, Rolling forecast, AOP , LRP) and ensures adherence to reporting timelines; enhances forecast accuracy, analyzes results and proposes necessary corrective measures; ensures adherence to approved budget; prepares all required financial presentations; reconciles all financials with the company's financial statements
  • Lead and manage labor economics for global R&D. Standardize and improve resource planning and FTE’s allocations to projects in collaboration with HR and program leadership
  • Improve planning and reporting systems and partner with IT constantly to challenge existing process to promote process automations, digitization and optimizations to allow faster deliveries of financial results and predictive analysis (SAC, Cfin, etc)
  • Works with Global Finance to ensure compliance with all relevant external and internal accounting, tax and other finance-related regulations.
  • Enhance R&D responsibility & accountability in forecasting and monitoring cash flow and foster relationship with procurement to improve financial terms. 
  • Supervises and consolidate capital expenditures plans. 
  • Mines and uses financial data to generate insights/flags to enable the real-time business decision-making.
  • Serve as liaison between corporate functions, other BU's and local teams.
  • Leads, manages and develop a team of 5 finance professionals.

Your experience and qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in senior finance roles in a major company or division of a large public corporation (healthcare or global pharmaceutical company will be an advantage). 
  • Advantage - Knowledge and understanding of the R&D pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Advanced knowledge of FP&A - budgeting and forecasting processes and expense management 
  • Strategic thinking with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced process skills to manage and improve complex cross functional processes.
  • Experience in partnering with an executive team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics/Accounting, MBA -Advantage -
  • Knowledge of SAC 
  • Fluent written and spoken English
