THE ROLE

Working in conjunction with the Director of Marketing Operations, the Content Management – Sr. Strategist, is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and governance of MFS' content architecture and taxonomy, ensuring that content tags, keywords, and other metadata are applied during the content development and publishing process to ensure a positive business partner and client experience across our content distribution platforms. The role will ensure adherence to our content governance framework and seek to improve reporting efforts associated with taxonomy and metadata completeness and accuracy. Additional responsibilities include implementing and maintaining a content library within Seismic, providing oversight and governance, communicating best practices, and driving adoption of our taxonomy across the enterprise.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Implements and influences strategy, holistic development, and ongoing refinement of MFS' content taxonomy with key content constituents and executive content management sponsors, including content creators and publishers.
  • Lead the Content Management Taskforce to proactively assess our taxonomy structure, driving execution to meet our content needs. 
  • Monitor and assess content taxonomy adoption and implementation. Provide oversight, enforcing taxonomy rules, vocabulary, and governance model.
  • Proactively review and refine content management model and related metadata fields, recommending improvements to support business use cases across Global Distribution, collaborating with Product Owners to implement across technology platforms when applicable.
  • Partner with Content-related teams, Digital Marketing and Digital Publishing to confirm appropriate application of metadata to assets across technology platforms.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day work and administration of content and metadata management workstreams.
  • Provide oversight of content tagging and develop auditing methods to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with content management framework across content distribution platforms.
  • Survey and interview stakeholders and observing current workflows to ensure applicability of taxonomy and metadata tags.
  • Work with subject matter experts to define workflows and standards for metadata application.
  • Communicate changes and conduct taxonomy/metadata training as needed, develop related training materials and sessions.
  • Develop a content management governance framework using input from executives and business sponsors.
  • Review adherence of governance rules and policies across the organization, communicate discrepancies, and seek commitment to improve.
  • Serve as Data Domain Trustee for Global Distribution, Leveraging Collibra, as the source of truth, to be the guiding technology support of all taxonomies.
  • Partner with taxonomy business data steward and technical business steward as needed to ensure adoption and implementation of taxonomy rules and platform changes.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation to support content management.
  • Explore automation and AI to gain efficiency in tagging content.
  • This position may assume management responsibilities as well.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 8-12+ years of experience in Content Management, Content Marketing, Content Taxonomy, or similar roles. Experience with managing complex taxonomy and metadata platforms across multiple content distribution platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in related fields: Data Management, Computer Science, Library & Information Science
  • Interest in Information Architecture, User Experience and/or Human Computer Interaction.
  • Experience developing and governing taxonomies and metadata schemas.
  • Effective communication skills required to successfully advocate for and gain acceptance of new taxonomy-related processes and governance policies.
  • Experience establishing a governance system.
  • Excellent communication skills written, verbal and presentation.
  • Ability to work with and manage multiple stakeholders' expectations and priorities.
  • Ability to set goals and work independently with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to influence individuals and groups.
  • Experience working in a global organization, with awareness of regional requirements.
  • Experience with technology platforms and the impact of taxonomies.
