ABOUT THE ROLE

To supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the plant, meeting all safety, quality and production targets as indicated by the company. Performs quality control tests for the specific product line in accordance with established local or national standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Directs the daily activities of employees working in the plant.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Be a safety leader and drives housekeeping efforts
  • Ensures production equipment is routinely inspected for defects, with corrective action as necessary.
  • Creates weekly schedules to meet production needs.
  • Carries out regular updates to appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance test databases and spreadsheets and provides report summaries or analyses as needed.
  • Carries out ongoing lab and field sampling. Testing to ensure that material produced and shipped meets State, project, and customer specifications and expectations.
  • Understands and works within Union labor
  • Proper reporting on accidents/incidents
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets, and limits)
  • Follow-up on out-of-spec material and corrective actions
  • Provide “troubleshooting” guidance and advice, for various customers both internal and external.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent 

Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree 

Required Work Experience: Experience in a materials production facility (sand, gravel, or other construction-related field) is required. 

Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficient computer skills, including MS Excel and Word

Additional Requirements:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills coupled with an understanding of unions, planning, scheduling, and people management ability.
  • Previous supervisor experience preferred.
  • Experience championing safety culture; demonstrable understanding of working safely with heavy equipment and energy sources
  • Ability to recognize production problems and the experience to solve those problems
  • Experience with quality sample testing preferred. 
  • Experience meeting production goals while maintaining the integrity of the safety program.
  • Needs to have a basic working knowledge of several of the following: electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, and conveyors.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees who are required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
