The Opportunity

The Manager, Media Planner holds a crucial position in leading a team of media planners, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to governance standards throughout the entire sales process. This role demands strategic foresight, leadership, and operational proficiency to craft and implement media campaigns that align with client objectives, fostering revenue growth and securing renewals. Additionally, the Manager will oversee the implementation and upkeep of comprehensive processes and workflows, aiming to enhance efficiency while maintaining consistency and precision, all in support of BBC's overarching business objectives.

Obligations consist of, but are not confined to:

Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of media planners, ensuring their success by monitoring progress and achievements against set objectives.
  • Spearhead the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous training initiatives for media planners, fostering a culture of growth and development within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director and Head of Media Planning to implement best practices, streamline processes, and maintain resources, contributing to operational excellence.
  • Proactively identify and address system issues, priorities, and process gaps to optimize efficiency and drive revenue growth and client retention.
  • Cultivate strong relationships and facilitate collaboration with internal teams, including Sales, Account Management, Partner Solutions, Product Marketing, Ad Operations, Research, and StoryWorks.

Media Planning

  • Showcase expertise in BBC's diverse advertising offerings, providing invaluable insights and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Consult with Sales and internal teams to support ongoing selling activities across various platforms, including digital, programmatic, audio, and linear.
  • Assist media planners in crafting comprehensive, audience-centric media proposals that leverage BBC's broad array of platforms and capabilities.
  • Serve as the lead planning resource throughout key accounts' lifecycle, ensuring seamless execution from pre- to post-sale.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Managers to ensure smooth transitions between pre- and post-sale activities.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for contract extensions, renewals, and upsells, contributing to revenue growth and client satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Brings over 5 years of experience in digital media planning or a similar environment, ideally gained in an agency or publisher setting, with 1-2 years of managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and interpersonal prowess, adept at fostering effective communication and collaboration both internally within BBC and externally with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Exhibits a high level of motivation and proactivity, consistently excelling in fast-paced environments while efficiently managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Possesses an analytical mindset coupled with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, leveraging tools and technologies to derive actionable insights that drive informed decision-making processes.

Compensation

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80K-$90K dependent on experience & market conditions. This range is not inclusive of a competitive bonus, flexible, hybrid working schedule & benefits including but not limited to: 100% BBCS covered medical & dental insurance, vision, & 401k match. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
