The Albertson Lab within the section of Neurocritical Care is seeking a Research Technician. This is ideal for someone with some prior laboratory experience who is interested in building their skill set and seeing several projects through to completion. Qualified applicants will work closely with our multidisciplinary team and Dr. Albertson to perform experiments and analyze data.
Our lab uses animal models and cell culture to better understand the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke. We are particularly interested in the mechanisms of recovery and neuroplasticity after stroke as well as the relationship between aging and stroke. We use a variety of techniques including molecular and cell biology, animal behavior, stereotax, viral transduction, microscopy, neuron tracing, and histology to address our questions. We combine these experiments with data from stroke patients to pursue a long-term goal of meaningfully improving the lives of individuals who have suffered from an ischemic stroke.
Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and up to 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 4 years.

$16.59 - $25.92 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
