First Look: (Contract News Writer)
The Arena Group is seeking a mountain bike-loving Contract News Writer with excellent writing skills and online know-how to join our team. The News Writer will be responsible for producing quick-turnaround, 250-350 word articles on a daily basis, which will be assigned each morning by the News Editor.
This is a full-time, contract position at a rate of $25 per hour.

What You’ll Do:
- Write multiple short, quick-turnaround articles on topics related to mountain biking news, athletes, and competitions
- Search social media channels of key players in mountain biking to find potential sources of content
- Search for and choose appropriate photos for each article
- Pitch ideas for articles to the News Editor
- Accept and apply feedback from the News Editor to improve the quality of articles
- Work with members from Arena Group publications to produce high quality articles and content
- Interview athletes, brands, and key players
- Provide industry insight through personal anecdotes and entertaining analysis of competitions, events, and news
What You’ll Bring:
- Mountain biking enthusiast
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of writing experience, preferably in a news capacity
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the niche culture of mountain biking
- First-hand experience and participation as a mountain biker
- Vast knowledge of the key players in the mountain biking community
- A genuine interest in outdoor adventure sports as a whole
