Course details

Intermediate Microeconomics is one of the fundamental Intermediate Core courses offered by the Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences. The course has some prerequisites, and it is intended to provide students with a thorough understanding of the core concepts and methods of microeconomics. This foundation allows students to enroll in more advanced undergraduate electives, all of which require successful completion of this course. The course content includes the calculus-based study of how producers, consumers, and resource owners acting through the market determine the prices and output of goods, the allocation of productive resources, and the functional distribution of incomes. The price system is viewed as a network of interrelated decisions, with the market process serving to communicate information to decision makers.
