Department Summary:

The N114 Warfighter Space Services Department delivers innovative, world-class products and services to enable effective and resilient warfighting capabilities for the United States Space Force (USSF). Our focus is on modernizing global and space-based capabilities, including Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) and Military Satellite Communication (MilComm). We employ world-class systems engineering, satellite communication, PNT, remote sensing, space cyber, and digital engineering SMEs to help our sponsors solve the nation’s Space challenges of today and tomorrow.

Join our Warfighter Space Services Department team at MITRE, where you will tackle our nation's most complex technical challenges and contribute to the public interest by enhancing our space enterprise capabilities. This role involves collaboration with multiple MITRE and government organizations, serving as the MITRE Technical Baseline Engineering Support to the Space Systems Command (SSC) MilComm and PNT (MCPNT).

Roles and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the MITRE engagement leader and a technical advisor to the MCPNT leadership.
  • Provide expert knowledge in mission/functional areas including MCPNT Technical Baseline, NAVWAR, GPS Enterprise Modernization, Requirements, Test & Integration and Futures.
  • Conduct system engineering trade studies, analyze systems, requirements and architectures, and assess technologies to support investment recommendations for systems changes.
  • Evaluate and propose effective integration actions, systems changes, and technology insertion initiatives, advocating for these recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and communicate directly with a diverse range of Government and non-Government personnel, both technical and non-technical, to explain and advocate for MITRE’s technical recommendations.
  • Identify and assess risks that could affect system performance or its ability to meet mission requirements, and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Represent MITRE's interests effectively by delivering insightful analysis and fostering strong internal support within MITRE.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a US government Top Secret clearance.
  • B.S degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field, with a minimum of 8 years of related experience or M.S. degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Proven technical expertise in systems engineering, space systems engineering and space-based PNT technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration across organizational units.
  • Effective communication of highly conceptual ideas.
  • Critical thinking skills and proactive approach to research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Recognized expertise in GPS/MilComm program of records and familiarity with Control, Space, and User Equipment including interface control and signal design.
  • Familiarity with GPS Operations to include 2SOPS.
  • Knowledge of other United States Space Force (USSF) mission systems, architectures and acquisition processes.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$150,500 - $188,000 - $225,500 Annual
