The team you'll be part of

A flexible team with passionate developers working on real-time embedded software applications for broadband access products. 

We are interacting closely with our colleagues in Shanghai and started contributing to work on device virtualization that simulates and runs real world physical Nokia products on a cloud in a pure software based virtualized form. We are working in an agile manner.

As a team we also possess a deep understanding of the end-to-end functionality of our products, as our deliverables are gating for other SW application teams. The team consists of a mix of SW development and test engineers.

You’ll get ample opportunity to get acquainted with the organization, our way of working and products. During this training period, the team will support you with specific on-hands / on-the-job training. Next to that, you will have a wide variety of high-quality on-line training material at your disposal. Additionally, we make time to support each other when facing a next challenge and to celebrate achievements.

The goal is to bring our product innovations and evolutions to the market faster and at higher quality than the competition as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team of senior experts and supported by state-of-the-art development and test technologies, tools and processes.

Responsibilities

As part of our team, you will:

  • Acquire overview of the broadband access products that Nokia offers
  • Acquire a thorough insight into the wide variety of hardware components present in our systems.
  • Work on device virtualization that simulates and runs real world physical Nokia products on a cloud in a pure software based virtualized form
  • Work together with the colleagues in Shanghai on the host framework development
  • Model new HW functionality in the host environment
  • Write test cases that validate the host simulation platform and automate them
  • Be accountable for the long-term quality of the software delivered

REQUIRED SKILLS

You have:

  • Engineering degree or a degree in Computer Science/ Telecommunications/Electronic (or 5 years of experience)
  • Ability to work fluently with Unix/Linux (as operating system)
  • Knowledge of real-time operating system concepts (interrupts, tasks, concurrency, …)
  • Linux networking basics: L2 forwarding, L3 routing, Packet format, Linux bridge, tap/veth interface
  • Knowledge of virtualization and containers ( docker, …)
  • Have high-level understanding of the hardware and software anatomy of embedded Linux systems (uboot, device tree, basic system buses (e.g. i2c, (Q)SPI, PCIe, etc.), Linux kernel, drivers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of C/C++, Python, Bash
  • Golang/Rust, K8S knowledge is a plus
  • Eagerness and agility to learn fast and be challenged on a daily basis
  • Passion in handling complex systems and projects
  • “out-of-the-box” thinking
  • The ambition to work autonomously after the needed training
  • Fluent in English
