Position Description:

Develops software within an Agile operating model using Cobol, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and TSO. Develops applications using Java, Oracle, Kubernetes, Rancher, Spring, and Application Program Interfaces (APIs). Rapidly deploys software changes to customers while minimizing risk using Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) practices and tools. Develops software applications using Customer Information Control System (CICS), Message Queue, Job Control Language (JCL), TSO, SORT, File-Aid, DB2, Control-M, and Virtual Storage Access Method. Supports Hibernate Object Relational Mapping, Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), Connection Pooling, and EDA solutions -- Kafka and Amazon Simple Notification Services (AWS SNS). Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications. Provides business solutions by developing complex software applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.

Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.

Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.

Develops comprehensive documentation for applications supporting several corporate initiatives.

Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.

Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.

Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Participates in daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software applications within the financial services industry.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software applications within the financial services industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing software applications using mainframe (Cobol, DB2, VSAM, and CICS) and distributed technologies (Java, SQL, AWS, and RESTful APIs) within the financial services industry; performing batch processing using Endevor, JCL, QSAM, and Control-M scheduling; and conducting performance testing on mainframe, batch, and online modules, using STROBE and SYSVIEW.

DE performing Information Technology (IT) product development to design applications for enterprise or financial services in an Cloud environment using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, Java, and Microservices.

DE creating development plans and program documents for changes required in JCL and COBOL programs using File-Aid utility and Control-M scheduling.

DE computing Cloud strategies and architecture using Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, or Microsoft Azure (AKS); and building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub.
