About the role
Reporting into the Assistant Financial Controller, the Head of Finance – Financial Control (Commercial & Marketing, Inventory & Supplier Funding) is a high-profile and commercially-facing role which plays a key role in ensuring a timely and accurate Retail month end close process. You will have the opportunity to lead a large and diverse multinational team and gain exposure to senior stakeholders across the business, along with leading key business initiatives and providing accounting guidance.
- Leading accurate month end close for Commercial, Marketing, and Inventory ensuring SOX control requirements are met
- Leadership and professional development of a large team of Finance Managers, Senior Finance Analysts, and Finance Analysts, including 4 direct reports who you will manage
- Leading and driving the extended offshore Record to Report (RTR) team including management of service delivery through regular governance sessions, providing ad hoc support and guidance
- Collaborating with the onshore and offshore EFS team (PTP/Payables & OTC/Receivables) to ensure strong governance and swift issue resolution across end-to-end processes
- Working cross functionally with the Business Unit Directors and the Commercial function to facilitate an efficient and SOX compliant Supplier Funding process that optimises accuracy and working capital
- Delivering a robust internal and external Recovery Audit process maintaining strong relationships with our third-party recovery auditors, Finance Directors at our suppliers and their recovery audit teams
- Leading the external financial statement audit and financial controls audit for Commercial & Marketing, Inventory & Supplier Funding
What you’ll need to have
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally
- Excellent organisational skills and able to manage challenging and competing priorities for the team
- A strong team leader who can build relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the business
- Ability to inspire and motivate a large blended onshore and offshore team to deliver results
- Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues including implementing process changes
- Experience analysing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
It would be great if you also have
- Experience of US GAAP, IFRS and a SOX control environment
