Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

OFFICE VISITS:

  • Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into exam room.
  • Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height, as needed.
  • Assists patient and provider throughout the visit.
  • Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately.
  • Maintains clean patient exam rooms.
  • Assembles and uses equipment appropriate to specific medical practice.
  • Prepares instruments for sterilization and dispose of contaminated supplies, as needed.
  • Communicates delays effectively when necessary.

CHARTING:

  • Accurately and thoroughly documents medical visits and procedures as they are being described and performed by the Physician and/or APP.
  • Documents and explains patient education and explanations of risks and benefits as directed by providers.
  • Manages the providers desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepares referral letters and school/work notes as directed by the provider.
  • Sends in prescriptions and lab/pathology orders as directed by the provider.

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Provides clerical support to patients, such as but not limited to, making appointments, booking procedures, scanning documents, obtaining prior authorizations for medications and answering telephones.
  • Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels.
  • Ensures accurate logbook maintenance.
  • Assists with training and acclimation of new hire Medical Assistants/Medical Scribes.
  • Other duties as assigned

GENERAL QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

High school diploma or equivalent is required in conjunction with one of the following certifications from an accredited program: MA certification, Phlebotomy certification, Patient Care Tech certification.

Performance Standards for Specialty Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • If Internal Candidate – must be in good performance and company policy standing.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills and EMR experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required.
  • Happy and positive thinking, able to project this attitude around others.
  • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve.
  • Flexible & adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving team environment.

Pay Range $19/hr to $25/hr

The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
