Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry, but also to aerospace, entertainment, defence, and renewable energy. This position is for our Subsea Robotics and Offshore Projects engineering department.

Discipline Lead, Electronics & Controls

We are looking for a new colleague to lead our efforts within electronics and control systems. Focus is on product development for advanced subsea vehicles and engineered solutions in deep water but also operational support to our services. A critical aspect is to deliver solid Life-of-field solutions that meet client expectations and at the same time utilize Oceaneering’s wide spectrum of advanced products and solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Discipline Lead responsibilities include:

  • Lead all electronics and control system development efforts
  • Support day to day operations and services within electronics & controls
  • Lead and develop a team of highly skilled engineers
  • Manage team resources utilizing capacity planning and resource management tools.
  • Manage the engineering procedures, methods, design reviews, reporting, documentation and archiving of data required to support the daily work and project requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that engineering is completed in accordance with Oceaneering policy and process with a focus on personnel safety and safety for the environment 
  • Ensure that the projects are carried out in accordance with Oceaneering HSEQ systems, as well as applicable rules and regulations and client specifications, and that necessary control mechanisms are in place 
  • Responsible for on-time delivery and quality of engineering output.
  • Review and maintain departmental budget, goals, and yearly plan.
  • Individuals will be expected to contribute with the assembly, sub-system, and system levels of projects.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical-, Controls- or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience
  • Documented leadership experience
  • Structured and systematic mindset
  • Solid knowledge of applicable Codes and Standards
  • Excellent people management- and communication skills

Desired

  • Experience from product development
  • Knowledge of subsea electronics and -controls systems
  • Experience in technology maturity assessment, FMECA, requirement analysis, and fault/event tree analysis
  • Experience with planning systems such as Agile, Smartsheet or Microsoft Project
  • Strong verbal and written English and Norwegian communication skills
