We currently have a career opportunity for a GCP Data Technical Architect. While our headquarters location is St. Louis, MO, this position is remote and can be based anywhere within the United States and will be working ET zones. 

Job Overview:

The GCP Data Technical Architectmust have a programming background (SQL and Python), in addition to expert data platform architecture, client presentation, team management and thought leadership skills, specifically with GCP (Google Cloud Platform).

You will provide best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; you will assist in defining scope and sizing of work; and anchor Proof of Concept developments. You will provide solution architecture for the business problem, platform integration with third party services, designing and developing complex features for clients' business needs. You should have experience building and implementing in emerging GCP data services like Datastream (CDC) and Dataform in addition to BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Data Fusion (preferred but not needed) and Dataflow (preferred but not needed).

  • Own and aggressively drive forward specific areas of technology architecture in the GCP (Google Cloud Platform) arena. Provide architectural solutions/designs to project execution teams for implementation.
  • Provide deep technical expertise to design and develop data pipelines in GCP Datastream, Dataform, Cloud Composer and BigQuery. Should be able to provide support to the team in code reviews (SQL and Python), bug triage, and data pipeline development when needed.
  • Provide architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for one or more technology domains.
  • Lead projects within architecture. Work with Product Owner/Business Analysts to understand functional requirements and interact with other cross-functional teams to architect, design, develop, test, and release features.
  • Develop Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions.
  • Support multiple Agile Scrum teams with planning, scoping and creation of technical solutions for the new product capabilities, through to continuous delivery to production.
  • Liaise with offshore team and clients for resolving technical dependencies, issues, and risks.
  • Architect, design and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate broad solutions technical leadership, impacting significant technical direction, exerting influence outside of the immediate team and driving change.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the design & implementation of cloud data platform solutions.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with GCP Data Platform architecture and solution implementation.
  • MUST have hands on GCP data platform experience.
  • Must have extensive experience with SQL previous database experience and BigData experience.
  • Experience with BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Datastream and Dataform. Dbt experience in place of Dataform is accepted. Any additional experience in GCP data platform services is nice to have.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data integration and data quality
  • Strong experience in building scalable, reusable pattern-driven architecture based on industry best practices.
  • Strong experience in building and implementing data pipeline templates on DevSecOps platforms like GitHub.
  • Experience provisioning cloud infrastructure using Terraform scripts.
  • Experience in establishing GCP (Google Cloud Platform) foundational environments
  • Experience with a back end scripting language - Java, Node, Python (nice to have)
  • Have a solid understanding of delivery methodology and lead teams in the implementation of the solution according to the design/architecture.
  • Experience in project and solution estimation and team structure definition.
  • Fluent and current on architecture trends with an eye on market/technical conditions and future direction.
  • Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural stand point.

Preferred skills and education:

  • GCP Professional Data Engineer Cert
  • Multi Cloud experience is a plus

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $92,118 to $202,730. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
