We're seeking a dedicated individual to join Comstock's Legal department as a Legal Assistant, providing essential support in coordinating finance transactions, preparing legal contracts, and maintaining company files. Responsibilities include providing administrative assistance to key legal personnel, managing corporate entities across various jurisdictions, and ensuring well-organized documentation in both hardcopy and electronic formats. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents, alongside gathering and summarizing information from diverse sources. Additionally, the position entails interfacing with finance and accounting teams, assisting with public company documentation, and overseeing business licensing and compliance matters. With a focus on real estate transactions, tasks include developing checklists, managing due diligence, coordinating document execution, and conducting research using legal tools. Key Responsibilities

Legal Administration

  • Provide administrative support to General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, and Real Estate Counsel 
  • Create and maintain corporate entities in various jurisdictions. 
  • Establish and maintain well-organized files in various formats, such as hardcopy, electronic, and various eRoom platforms. 
  • Draft, review, and edit basic legal documents and business correspondence. 
  • Gather, organize, summarize, and index documents from various sources. 
  • Assist with public company documentation. 
  • Interface with finance and accounting teams regarding taxes, invoices, etc. 
  • Assist with maintenance and renewal of business licenses and professional registrations in various jurisdictions.

Real Estate Transactions

  • Develop and maintain checklists for real estate and financing transactions. 
  • Track and manage due diligence, coordinate transaction submissions, and work with team to close transactions 
  • Coordinate title/survey, environmental reports, document execution and closing logistics. 
  • Conduct research and gather information using general and legal research tools. 
  • Prepare closing indices and binders and follow up on post-closing matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Associate degree or higher preferred; a paralegal certificate is a plus
  • 2+ years of transactional paralegal or legal administrative experience at a law firm or corporate legal department. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, word, excel)
  • Ability to stay organized in a quick dynamic working environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and function independently. 
  • Strong attention to detail ensuring accuracy while managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible
