Overview

The GBIT Operations team is responsible for the ongoing support and operation of production applications critical to our business. Within the GBIT Operations organization, the Application Support Specialist will join an experienced team of professionals responsible for supporting multiple applications, with a heavy focus on business intelligence applications. They will work to provide exceptional support to internal and external clients and continuously improve execution against defined SLAs and KPIs. This role will also partner with multiple internal IT teams and outside vendors to design and/or troubleshoot reports and metrics using a variety of Business Intelligence tools. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively in a remote work environment to deliver consistently excellent support through the application of logical troubleshooting and clear communication, will identify and suggest improvements within the team, and will proactively and transparently communicate the status of incidents and service requests to internal customers.

Due to the 24x7 nature of our business, the role requires availability off-hours at times.

How you'll make an impact

  • Provides support for a variety of applications with a heavy focus on Business Intelligence and data.
  • Assists internal clients with creating and troubleshooting reports and dashboards within BI applications.
  • Communicates IT issues in business terms.
  • Exercises sound judgement in understanding business impact. Promptlyand appropriately escalates urgent issues to leadership.
  • Engages with internal IT teams and external partners to determine the cause of issues and identifies ways to resolve them and prevent them from reoccurring.
  • Quickly learns and adapts to new applications, new functionality, and new processes.
  • With leadership guidance, develops and implements data sets and visualization for KPIs and SLA performance metrics within PowerBI.
  • Ensures process documentation and SOPs are created, updated, and used consistently.

About You

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related subject area and/or combination of relevant experience and education

  • Demonstrable ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers, team members, and leadership
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to quickly grasp and assimilate new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with MS Products: Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Advanced Excel skills

Desired:

  • Experience with SSRS, PowerBI, and Business Intelligence / reporting applications
  • Experience with a health insurance company, TPA, or claim processor and a thorough understanding on the underlying structure of claims transactions
  • Experience supporting ETL processes
  • Experience with MSSQL and/or HPE NonStop databases
  • Experience with BMC Remedy or a similar ITSM solutions
