Location Description

Hopkins, MN is home to our Michael Foods, Inc. corporate headquarters. Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Sr Supply Planning S&OP Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of supply planners, ensuring high quality schedules and deployment plans are developed that meet or exceed key performance indicators. These KPI’s include optimizing customer fill rates, minimizing obsolescence, and meeting target days on hand. In addition, this role will be the lead on the redeployment and execution of the S&OE and S&OP process, managing, communicating, and champion for the process.

This position requires constant communication and interaction with Demand Planning, Master Planning, Customer Service, Marketing, Warehousing, Transportation, Plant Operations, and Procurement. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review master production schedules ensuring they are feasible in terms of capacities and raw material; maximizing plant efficiencies; optimizing customer service levels, meeting days on hand targets, and minimizing obsolescence.
  • Identify action items & marshal resources to address action items/follow up on all supply planning related issues.
  • Provides resolution to key shortage issues to upper management; coach and guide the Supply Planners in determining root causes of inventory imbalances, resolving them, and developing process and reporting improvements to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Oversees and aid in optimizing inventory levels at both distribution centers and plants via various stocking policies – including the requirement for seasonal builds & coordinating storage strategies with distribution team.
  • Manage inventory of new and phase out products with key business partners via product life cycle management process.
  • Lead S&OP process redeployment and ongoing S&OP process.
  • Manage long-term capacity planning with scenario planning, being able to identify constraints and escalate exceptions for business consideration with the suggestion of possible scenarios and solutions.
  • Spearhead monthly supply planning meeting with manufacturing leaders to ensure the supply plans are in line with the demand plan.
  • Identify key data needs, metrics, inputs that will help drive the correct business decisions in the overall S&OP process.
  • Understand and communicate plan changes, risks, and overall process performance.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Demand Planning, and Supply Planning teams to generate recommendations to solve capacity issues and support long term sales demand.
  • Play a key role to E&O inventory reviews, root cause analysis and develop action plans to reduce excess inventory.
  • Support IT solution design and justification to enable S&OE and S&OP process.
  • As part of the department leadership team – participate in the processes of interviewing, hiring, planning/assigning workloads, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining employee.
  • Develops and trains direct reports, while providing guidance on day-to-day direction
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation for assigned Supply Planners

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing or a related field
  • APICS certification
  • 7-10+ years of experience in supply planning, inventory management, manufacturing, or distribution in a related industry
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management.
  • Direct supply/deployment/material/supply planning experience in a planning technology or ERP
  • Microsoft Office skills, with focus on advanced Excel
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills; ability to communicate complex issues in a clear manner.
  • Effective at building relationships and utilizing problem solving skills to drive decisions and build consensus amongst stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain dynamics
  • Ability to multitask and communication effectively cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Working knowledge of S&OE and S&OP with implementation experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience in a food industry or short shelf-life environment preferred
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Access to design and execute complex queries and reporting
  • Experience with SAP and its related supply chain applications
