We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Database Engineering team! You will lead and support a team to build experiences that help QuickBooks and Mailchimp customers leverage the power of our combined products to grow their businesses. You will manage engineers involved in the operation and maintenance of our database fleet that includes MySql, GCP Spanner, and AWS Aurora. You will mentor and grow individual contributors and collaborate with other engineering functions and cross-functional team members such as product managers and test engineers.

The ideal candidate has experience building and operating large web applications, plus familiarity with current database and data store technology trends and patterns. They should also be a skilled communicator and collaborator comfortable working across multiple teams and departments.

Intuit Mailchimp is a hybrid workplace, giving employees the opportunity to collaborate in person with team members in our Atlanta office two or more days per week.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience as an established technical leader of database engineering teams that have successfully delivered customer-driven software products.
  • Passion for being at the leading edge of technology with 5+ years of hands-on database engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in a database engineering environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing an inclusive team of high-performing engineers in multiple office locations.
  • Experience in building, operating large scale web applications with millions of data points
  • Experience in Agile software development
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Build a high performing team by putting the right people in the right job at the right time
  • Coach a team of database engineers to help define their career path through challenging growth opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships and alignment with partners across the business (e.g. Product Development, Program Management, and Product Management).
  • Collaborate with Product Development teams to meet their data needs while they are bringing customer driven software products to market that simplify and solve for current customer needs while building for the future.
  • Technically deep-dive to problem solve with the database engineering team
  • Lead operational excellence to deliver highly available, scalable data storage solutions with utmost attention to quality, security, and performance metrics.
  • Embrace new ideas that produce outstanding results for our customers
  • Help to bring out the best ideas from the best engineers by empowering them and leading by example.
