Supervisor, Merchandising (E-commerce)

The Supervisor, Merchandising, coordinates the online Branded Merchandise shopping experience, the Branded Merchandise Boutique, and handles customer service issues. This position simultaneously handles multiple projects from start to finish and requires strong attention to detail while utilizing internal and external resources. This position supports the Branded Merchandise Boutique sales and assists the merchandising supply chain with inventory management and e-commerce customer quality control issues.

The Supervisor, Merchandising, oversees the daily operations of the Branded Merchandise Boutique retail location. The Supervisor plans inventory features; maintains the shop and merchandise in an attractive, clean, orderly fashion; guarantees an exceptional customer service experience; oversees the data entry of shop orders; and ensures financial transactions are handled according to gift shop policies and procedures.

This on-site position is located at 8080A El Rio St. and will report to the Associate Director, Merchandising.

Boutique Sales and Merchandising

  • Supervises the merchandising display and merchandise presentation in the shop to support sales and maintain safety standards. Changes shop displays. Supervises and works with staff stocking and displaying merchandise. Interfaces with the Associate Director, Gift Shop, to plan and promote all shop activities.
  • Works with the Associate Director, Merchandising, to ensure the shop has adequate product levels by suggesting new merchandise and addressing merchandise quality control concerns. Maintain in-shop inventory by reviewing the level of merchandise and processing transfers as needed.
  • Plans and implements all tasks necessary to supervise/run a gift shop; presents merchandise in an attractive, clean, orderly manner; meets customer needs in a friendly, timely manner; oversees data entry of orders for the shop; and ensures financial transactions are handled according to gift shop policies and procedures.
  • Attends weekly merchandising huddle meetings to provide input and share feedback on trends and opportunities for promotion.
  • Provides customer feedback along with new ideas that align with departmental goals and promotional merchandising strategy.

Customer Service and Office Administration

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries. Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies. Professionally handle incoming customer requests and ensure that issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly.
  • Interacts with customers by telephone, electronically, or face-to-face to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests about purchased products and services.
  • Supervises the resolution of any customer complaint. Resolve challenging situations both internally and with the client. Track customer service refunds and returns.
  • Clerical responsibilities include answering telephone calls and e-commerce orders, processing new client accounts, maintaining customer accounts, implementing changes to existing accounts, mail processing, artist samples, archiving documents, and other paperwork.
  • Supervises daily volunteer interactions, including first-time introductions, office tours, daily task explanations, and ongoing volunteer status updates.
  • Strong phone and in-person customer service skills with the ability to engage with new customers, anticipate needs, and promote services that fill those needs.
  • Interacts daily with both customers and employees to promote sales opportunities.

Inventory and Fulfillment

  • Utilizes Counterpoint, e-commerce, and web technologies to activate new products, update e-commerce product information and descriptions, and update product photography as needed.
  • Maintains in-shop inventory by reviewing merchandise levels and processing orders as needed with the appropriate vendor. Ensures merchandise received matches orders and that the data is entered into the computer in an accurate, timely manner. Responsible for damaged or obsolete merchandise.
  • Oversees the daily financial transactions and business of the shop. Prepares shop for annual inventory. Works with the Associate Director, Merchandising, to plan and promote all shop activities.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience

Required: Five years of experience in retail sales, marketing, product development, event planning or supply chain.
