Background: 

The OverOps Knowledge Management and Learning Department structures and drives a systematic approach to generating, collecting, and curating knowledge so that staff in Overseas Operations can easily access it and use it to improve their knowledge, skills, systems, and processes, in order to enable CRS to be more agile and efficient in the way that it operates. This internship seeks a current undergraduate or graduate student seeking to obtain work experience that aligns with his/her studies in international development, non-profit management, program management and operations, knowledge management and learning, change management, or other related sector, and/or to fulfill requirements for an academic course or degree. 

Primary Function: 

The OverOps KML Intern will support the Senior Advisor for Change Enablement and Training in assessing KML-related needs of OverOps staff, identifying gaps, and designing or planning efforts to address those gaps, with a focus on virtual communication and tools. Work will involve communicating and collaborating with staff across departments at CRS, under guidance from the Senior Advisor for Change Enablement and Training. Key areas for learning include event planning, survey design, and document management. 

Job Responsibility: 

  • Assist with event planning and set-up for virtual, all agency or cross-departmental events and campaigns hosted by the OverOps KML Department. 
  • Research and analyze the use of After Action Reviews (a process used at CRS to document key learning from a specific initiative/effort), and make recommendations to improve process and storage to promote accessibility and learning. 
  • Assist in the development of surveys to assess learning and training needs of OverOps staff around the world. 
  • Review existing department documentation and identify gaps or areas requiring update, translation, etc. 

Key Working Relationships: 

Internal: OverOps Knowledge Management and Learning Department, other key representatives from other departments throughout Overseas Operations, both at headquarters and in the regions. 

External: None
