Strategic Communications

From Dublin, our team serves the communications needs of many of Ireland’s leading public and private companies across multiple sectors including financial services, energy, industrials, real-estate, hospitality, aviation, FMCG, healthcare & life sciences, and agri-services. We also represent many international companies on their engagement with stakeholders in Ireland – and internationally – on a broad range of complex reputation issues. We are supported by a network of offices and colleagues in every major capital market in the world.

Our role for the clients we represent – which includes B2B and B2C companies – is to help build, manage, and develop our clients’ communications programmes to protect and enhance credibility with stakeholders; advance their commercial objectives; and address challenges or issues affecting their strategic ambition or value. 

This incorporates managing their corporate reputation and brand, advising on engagement with multiple stakeholder groups; including media and Government; and advising on best-practice ESG and sustainability disclosure. We also support clients on their digital and social footprint and on building and retaining a strong employer brand.

About The Role

As our team continues to grow, FTI Consulting is seeking a Consultant/Senior Consultant to support our Dublin office, working with a range of domestic and international clients. The role will provide you with an opportunity to learn and have exposure to a full range of strategic communications services, including executing corporate communications strategies, media relations, investor relations, public and regulatory affairs and ESG initiatives. Our team also offers specialised knowledge in the strategically important areas of crisis management, sustainability and cybersecurity.

As a global firm, the role will provide the opportunity for travel to other offices across our network.

What You’ll Do

• Actively support clients to a high standard, alongside Managing Director and other senior team members
• Draft communications materials (e.g. writing press releases and briefing documents)
• Undertake corporate communications and media relations engagements (e.g. distributing press releases, briefing journalists, and assessing media impact)
• Develop positive relationships with clients and the media
• Compile and analyse media coverage, including sentiment analysis
• Social media monitoring
• Undertake in-depth research on specific client related issues including public and regulatory affairs, media sentiment and potential reputational risks
• Assist with maintaining media databases, editorial forward feature lists, and event calendars
• Assist on new business initiatives (e.g. conducting research on prospective clients, creating and editing proposals, etc.)

• You will grow your skills through day-to-day interaction with your colleagues and clients, receiving continuous feedback on your work whilst sharing knowledge, insights and shared experiences.
• Your direct line manager will have responsibility for your growth and development and will conduct frequent check-ins and bi-annual reviews
• You will participate in FTI Consulting’s learning and development initiatives which cover multiple areas, including training on financial metrics, presentation delivery and building your understanding of the media
• FTI also runs a mentoring programme which will afford the opportunity to learn first-hand from FTI’s senior leadership
• Opportunity to connect with peers across the network

What You Will Need to Succeed

We are looking for a proactive, efficient and energetic new colleague with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, who is ready to support busy teams across a variety of client engagements. A high level of flexibility and ability to build trust within teams and managers is essential.

Basic Qualifications

• 2-3 years of public relations experience (agency experience preferred)
• Strong organisational skills to prioritise competing demands and act in a proactive manner, always thinking ahead
• Drafting and writing capabilities with exceptional attention to detail
• Media relations experience
• Proven ability to manage projects
• Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters
• Proficiency in working independently and as part of a busy team
• A flexible team player
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required

Preferred Experiences

• Interest in digital communications and experience working with social media tools are desirable
