MobilizeGreen seeks a Public Health Intern for the Office of Public Health Your Park! Your Health! Program. This position will extend from June 10, 2024 - June 9, 2025. The intern will report to a supervisor in one of the listed locations, with the option to telework when necessary.

Your Park! Your Health! is a community engagement and internship program established in 2016 to reflect a commitment to developing a workforce and visitation base that values diversity and an inclusive environment. Program efforts focus on holistic health strategies that promote engagement in parks, inspire personal and peer connections, and encourage new pathways for improved wellbeing. To carry out this program, the OPH engages diverse, college-educated young adults who work alongside public health professionals and park staff in the areas of Environmental Health, Epidemiology/One Health, and Health Promotion.

Term: 52 weeks, starting on June 10, 2024; Full time/40hrs per week

Position Duties:

  • Provide coordination, guidance, and support on a broad range of program matters essential to the management and operation of the FSB.
  • Work with technical and professional staff in support of office programs to gain practical work experience.
  • Shadow and support day‐to‐day responsibilities of United States Public Health Service Officers who serve as public health consultants in parks
  • Track urgent public health requests, incidents, and responses
  • Update internal/external websites, policies and other communication strategies
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of databases

Eligibility:

  • Undergraduates (rising juniors or seniors only), bachelor's, master's, and doctoral candidates of Public Health are eligible to apply.
  • Preference will be given to public health, engineering, and environmental health majors
  • Must be skilled in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and following up assignments with minimal direction
  • Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing 
  • Providing project coordination in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; as well as web-based communication tools
