Role Summary

We currently have a vacancy for a Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager for our Den Helder base.

The role will report directly to the Accountable Manager. The Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager is responsible for leading the safety management, regulatory compliance, and HESS compliance programs within the business unit. To ensure global company standardization, this role will also report to The Director of Global Safety and Quality. 

By leading the Safety and Quality department, you will be required to provide safety and quality guidance and advice to the local management team and the corporate organization. 

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance duties: 

  • Liaise with customers and vendors on quality matters. 
  • Liaise with the regulator on safety and quality matters.
  • Responsible for the organization’s quality audit program. 
  • Ensure that issues affecting quality are investigated, tracked, and monitored. 
  • Ensure all findings are monitored and that corrective and preventive actions are completed.
  • Influence the business to address quality and/or product safety issues. 
  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s Safety Management System. 
  • Monitor all pertinent proactive and reactive safety reports and where necessary, ensure that appropriate support to deliver follow-up action is taken. 
  • Manage the certification authorities (ACA, SCA) in accordance with policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure that Service Difficulty Reports are submitted to the regulatory authorities. 
  • Responsible for the monitoring and updating of the SMS database. 

Regulatory Compliance duties: 

  • Responsible to the Accountable Manager for safety.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and regulatory authorities. 
  • Ensure that compliance documentation and certificates meet regulatory requirements and business needs. 
  • Ensure that the quality audit plan covers all activities under the scope of approval of the organization and escalates issues that require management intervention. 

Health, Environment, Safety and Security duties: 

  • Oversee HESS compliance and ensures safety promotion & legislative requirements are met. 
  • Monitor and oversee the Emergency Response Plan.

May include other duties as required. 

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Required Qualifications (Education, Qualifications, Certifications): 

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in an operational environment - Essential.
  • Accredited training in aviation safety management disciplines - Essential.
  • University degree or aviation trade in a technical discipline - Desirable.
  • Incident investigator qualification - Desirable.
  • Lead auditor qualification - Desirable.
  • Possess or have held professional aviation accreditations such as pilot licenses, maintenance engineer licenses, responsible person approval from an NAA - Essential.
  • Ability to travel internationally - Essential

Skills/Experience

  • Working knowledge of quality tools and ICAO Annex 19 - Essential.
  • Knowledge of regulations applicable to the rotary wing industry - Essential.
  • Experience as part of or leading an incident investigation - Essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in the rotary wing / SAR air operators environment - Desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in fixed-wing or general aviation environments - Desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management - Desirable.
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems - Essential.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software suite - Essential.
