We are now looking for Director, Energy to join our UPM Communication Papers, Operations team. The position is located preferably in Helsinki, Finland or any of our Communication Paper mill sites in Finland.

What you will do

As Director, Energy you will lead energy hedging strategy/execution in matrix for UPM Communication Papers and UPM Specialty Paper businesses and manage Finnish energy operations together with paper mills. Your role is to ensure strategic partnership towards internal and external stakeholders in energy related topics for UPM Communications Papers and UPM Specialty Papers. You will be a member of UPM Communications, Operations management team and lead your own small team.

In this position you will proactively:

• Lead UPM Communication Papers’ and UPM Specialty Papers’ paper mills energy hedging strategy and operations process globally
• Manage CO2 emission trading and other regulatory regimes in Finland
• Provide energy market and regulation insight and their impact to Communication Papers operations globally
• Create cost-savings through well planned actions in UPM Communication Papers and UPM Specialty Papers sourcing/market operations/mills
• Represent UPM and/or paper businesses in selected associations and co-owned companies (Pohjolan Voima) on energy topics in Finland.
• Manage internal and external energy services in Finland
• Responsible for energy market transparency and other regulatory requirement based on UPM group policies, e.g. REMIT

Who you are

• You have a relevant Master’s level university degree
• You are an energy professional with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience either in process industry or energy markets and have knowledge about energy regulations and standards
• You have genuine interest on energy efficiency technologies and practices
• You have a development mindset. You are a proactive and results focused person and can see the essential in complex business and organizational environment
• You have excellent networking, coaching and influencing skills
• You communicate fluently both in Finnish and English
• You are willing to travel for work if necessary
