We’re looking for a DEI, Belonging and Reconciliation (DEIBR) Specialist to drive the implementation of DEIBR initiatives and programs. You’ll partner with the DEIBR team to operationalize key components of our multi-year DEIBR plan and roadmap and provide additional team support to our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to enhance and improve the DEIBR program content and delivery. You will work closely with the Director, DEIBR to review the already established programs to meet the changing needs of our employees and business. You will be a key point of contact for our Learning and Development team, partnering to source and or develop employee-focused resources that support workplace DEIBR.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Identify, organize and analyze DEI data and metrics in the DEI dashboard. Develop insightful and meaningful narrative on DEIBR programs and initiatives for various reports.

Develop and maintain DEIBR guidelines and resources for all employees. Conduct regular reviews and updates to ensure the guidelines and resources remain relevant and effective.

Take a leading role in creating a culture of DEIBR learning and awareness by designing DEIBR learning initiatives, partnering with Learning and Development (L&D) and our diversity-focused partners in providing learning opportunities to Meridian employees.

Lead the launch and development of additional Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). This includes helping ERG Co-chairs operationalize their groups, implementing membership growth strategies, and providing learning opportunities for the ERG Co-chairs. Facilitate discussions and provide guidance to the ERGs members on DEIBR and ERG related topics, as required.

Act as an additional point of contact between Meridian’s existing Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the DEIBR team. Support the Director DEIBR and team in the collaboration with ERGs in the areas of communications, events and integration of a wide range of DEIBR activities across Meridian.

Identify and recommend DEIBR focused partners to the Director, DEIBR

Conduct industry research using online tools and publications; stay informed of developments in the external DEIBR-related environment, thought leadership space and identify program development opportunities.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, DEIBR

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 2+ years previous Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) experience in a corporate environment is strongly preferred.
  • Lived experience with a demonstrated and practical understanding of racism, intersectionality with respect to the following diversity dimensions: gender, race, ethnicity, 2SLGBTQIA+, accessibility, immigration status.
  • Demonstrated and practical understanding of systemic biases and barriers to workplace inclusion.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with previous experience writing organization wide communications, or policies.
  • Experience in creating and informing dashboards and DEIBR reporting.
  • Highly organized, and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills, and able to problem solve under tight deadlines.
  • Strong proven computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of metrics and analytics and make improvements as necessary.
  • Manage results to ensure timelines, milestones and deliverables are met.
  • In depth knowledge of practices, policies, processes and evaluation tools in DEIBR.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current legislative and regulatory aspects of DEIBR (human rights, employment standards).
  • Shows the ability and confidence to influence decisions using sound data to draw valid conclusions, recommendations and plans of action.
  • Proactive work style with the desire to own & execute tasks independently. A strong bias toward action and ownership of responsibilities.
  • High emotional intelligence, with a proven ability to build trust.

Office Location: 3330 Bloor Street West, Toronto .
