General Description:

Under direct supervision, reviews and fills drug orders utilizing a copy of the physician’s order to create and maintain patient medication profiles.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. 

  • Reviews and assesses medication/IV orders for, but not limited to drug interactions, drug admixture incompatibilities
  • Reviews medication/IV orders for appropriateness based on; but not limited to age, expectations of patient/family and other health care providers
  • Provides clinical interventions through communication with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals and patients
  • Prepares intravenous admixtures/other sterile products under lamina flow hood utilizing aseptic technique 100% of the time

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Currently enrolled and in good standing with an accredited college of pharmacy approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, graduated from an accredited college of pharmacy with registration pending, or in the process of satisfying internship requirements for foreign graduates taking the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NABPLEX).

Experience: None.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Applicants must possess a current valid Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy intern permit OR provide proof of recent enrollment in one of the two Oklahoma colleges of pharmacy to confirm eligibility AND obtain an Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy intern permit within two months of the hire date into the intern position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Knowledge of the principles and procedures associated with pharmacology. Good communication skills along with the ability to translate technical information into terms the general public can understand. Subsequent to orientation/training, must be proficient in intravenous admixture skills and good computer skills
