Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating with the EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Manager for the following: adhering to the highest standard of confidentiality; participating in plant safety and ergonomic programs; assisting with education and training programs identifying and assisting with worker’s compensation cases and assisting with the maintenance and documentation of worker’s compensation files; assisting with FMLA, and performing other duties as assigned. Performing the duties of the EHS Manager in his/her/their absence as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks.
  • Assist with maintaining EPA and state environmental documentation, OSHA 300 Logs, BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) reporting.
  • Enforce Occupational Safety and Health policies (e.g. accident reporting process).
  • Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions.
  • Organize and conduct Occupational Safety and Health training plans and conduct all new hire Safety Orientation.
  • Collaborate with all levels of management to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
  • Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on Occupational Health and Safety matters.
  • Provide assistance in Accident/Near Miss investigations. Research and/or document root-cause analyses and assist EHS Manager in providing follow-up for corrective action.
  • Conduct required EHS workplace inspections.
  • Chair the safety committee.
  • Foster and champion the environmental culture.
  • May provide functional guidance, but not directly supervising anyone.
  • May perform other safety- related duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of experience.
  • Experience in reporting policies and implementing Occupational Health and Safety training programs that is acquired either by past experience or on-the-job training.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite application such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Good listening and communication skills with ability to interact various levels within the organization.
  • Critical thinking/analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and sense of urgency to exercise due diligence. 
  • Ability to prioritize own workload in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to perform overall essential job duties.
