SUMMARY

As a Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of various commercial refrigeration equipment, including Refrigerator freezers, ice machines, and supporting equipment. Your role will involve diagnosing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and delivering high-quality service to our clients.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Participate in three training sessions per year to keep up to date on new technology.
  • Maintain or exceed NPS target annually. Track using Bowling chart.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Diagnose and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair commercial refrigeration equipment, identifying issues with compressors, motors, electrical components, and refrigerant systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates efficiently and minimizes downtime.
  • Installation: Install new refrigeration systems and equipment, ensuring proper wiring, piping, and connections.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Safely handle and dispose of refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate service records, including work orders, service reports, and parts used, and provide detailed explanations to customers.
  • Customer Service: Interact with clients professionally, provide explanations of repair or maintenance needs, and offer solutions to improve equipment efficiency.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines during repairs and installations.
  • Training: Stay up to date with industry advancements and participate in training programs to enhance technical skills.
  • Communication: Must be able to follow Factory Guidelines and communicate with Factory Tech Support when diagnosing equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in refrigeration/HVAC is a plus.
  • Refrigeration technician certification (e.g., EPA 608) is required.
  • Proven experience as a commercial refrigeration service technician.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation along with a clean driving record.
  • Experience with new environmentally friendly hydrocarbon refrigerant.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical systems, and HVAC.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

Non-Manufacturing:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools up to 50lbs.
  • Bending, squatting, climbing, and working in confined spaces may be required.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other employees and customers.
  • Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively.
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Communicate with others to exchange information.
