SURGICAL FIELD TRAINER- South Africa

As a SURGICAL FIELD TRAINER, you will be RESPONSIBLE for assisting with trainings for Third Party Surgical Sales Field Force, and the Alcon Internal Team. You will be based in JOHANNESBURG.

In this role, a typical work includes:

  • Identifies training needs to ensure that a high level of product training is maintained for field associates, and offers appropriate training
  • Participate in the deployment of Skills training modules (360 and Business Excellence)
  • Ensures the organization of training sessions for field associates (remotely and / or face-to-face, calendar, etc.)
  • Ensures the evaluation and monitoring of the training provided (certifications), in conjunction with the regional training teams.
  • Facilitates the integration of new delegates (training, knowledge control and mentoring)
  • Supports role plays and field visits to help sales teams to develop, consolidate their learning and make effective use of their training in order to grow the Alcon sales - the objective is being to upgrade the technologies already in place with customers or convert them to Alcon products
  • In conjunction with the regional training teams ensures competitive intelligence in the field and provides feedback on competitor strategies and activities
  • Ensures that the feedback from delegates and their managers is effectively taken into account in order to continuously improve training programs
  • Provides assistance through its product expertise to sales and marketing teams in the context of product launches in order to convince KOLs
  • Works closely with regional training teams•Participates in conferences, events, business seminars - when necessary
  • Performs regular reporting of its activities to its manager and regional teams
  • He/She may be asked to serve in a leadership role at sales meetings. She/he will function as a technical resource to reinforce learning in workshops, and may be asked to assist in role plays and maintaining group focus and may prepare and deliver relevant content at these meetings

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Education: University degree (business, education, science, engineering) or equivalent experience. Degree in optometry or ophthalmology desired.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in the field of surgery or healthcare. ( Opthalmology experience will be a plus)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Afrikaans is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate and model the application of the technical aspects of the respective products managed by the representative to be mentored and trained
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively target, plan, and manage sales growth within the sales territory. Effectively deliver a business analysis plan to drive territory sales growth
  • Ability to train as well as rehearse the Business Excellence modules with the Field Force.

Available for very frequent trips : 70 % of time in all Africa.
