Department Information

Stamps Health Services is an outpatient ambulatory care center that provides health care and health education to students and their spouses/domestic partners. The center is located in a state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot facility within the Joseph Brown Whitehead Building, next to our Campus Recreation Center. Stamps Health Services provides care in six areas: Primary care, Women's health, Psychiatry, Travel/Immunization/Allergy, Pharmacy, and Diagnostic Services (lab and radiology). Primary Care Clinic is the largest of the clinics at Stamps Health Services and sees approximately 24,000 visits/year.

Job Summary

The Radiology Supervisor role will provide leadership and management to effectively oversee radiology operations including personnel, scheduling, technical, and workflow functions. Act as the liaison between radiology/ patients/ and other staff.

This position will supervise: Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Manages the day-to-day operation of radiology to ensure appropriate staffing and testing capabilities are available

Job Duty 2 -

Operates X-Ray equipment to produce routine radiographs of designated portions of the human body

Job Duty 3 -

Manages the Radiographic Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive Communication (PAC) system

Job Duty 4 -

Conduct timely investigations related to quality assurance including, but not limited to customer complaints, inquiries, non-conformances, corrective actions, and audit findings

Job Duty 5 -

Follows guidelines and industry standards to ensure a safe operating environment for patients and staff

Job Duty 6 -

Oversees the orientation/training of radiology staff

Job Duty 7 -

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or two years college course work. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology Program or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications

Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits:

o Registration as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART)

o Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Required Experience

Two to three years of job-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Must be able to handle heavy objects weighing up to 25 pounds or more

SKILLS

o Knowledge of federal, state, and local standards, regulations, guidelines, and requirements

affecting operations of a radiology service

o Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of routine radiological procedures

o Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used in radiology work

o Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of diagnostic images, maintain records and follow

protocols

o Prior supervisory experience is preferred in order to lead, manage and motivate staff

o Decision making skills - posses the ability to make informed and timely decisions regarding patient

care, staff management and departmental operations

o Ability to identify issues and implement solutions, sometimes in a high-pressure environment

o Must be highly flexible and adaptable to handle various situations

o Demonstrates strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

o Analytical thinking and communication skills

o Able to foster a positive and collaborative environment is crucial for the efficiency and effectiveness

of the department
