Networking Intern (PAID INTERNSHIP)

About the role

Passionate about network operations? Your next opportunity will assist our Networking team with a variety of WICOM and WTAS initiatives. We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic and personable Networking Intern who can help with system inventory, installation, upgrades, and more. Based in our modern New York office you will be immersed in every aspect of our Network environment.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Network Engineering Team, you’ll mainly be involved with:

• MTA system inventory (network infrastructure)
• Netbox audits
• Assisting in installation and upgrades of VMs as needed
• Assisting in any configuration and installation of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, servers, etc.)
• Centralizing the IP Address Management (IPAM) system into Netbox.
• Developing automation scripts to help for easier deployment of configurations, and other repeatable functions.
• Documentation auditing and cleanup: This will help ensure all documentation is up to date and in the appropriate locations in both Confluence and SharePoint.
• Audit backups for all network infrastructure device are regularly backed up. 
• Zabbix monitoring: Ensuring Zabbix is correctly monitoring the networking infrastructure components. All triggers are reviewed and adjusted if needed.

What you’ll bring

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in computer science, information systems, or IT
• 2nd year undergraduate and above with a minimum 3.5 GPA
• Understanding of computer networking, systems, IP addressing, computer operating systems, and scripting tools for automation
