Job Description and Requirements

The RBFCU Insurance Agency Insurance Specialist will work with prospects and clients to evaluate their property and casualty insurance needs and will identify the appropriate agency program to meet those needs. In addition, the Insurance Specialist will increase market share with member/non-members to generate profitable revenue. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high quality service combined with professional relationship management with both new and renewal business
  • Evaluate the risk experience against carrier and agency guidelines, including review applications for insurance coverage along with loss reports, driving records, credit standing and other information to determine if application is acceptable for various agency programs
  • Manage multiple lead opportunities on a daily basis and assume responsibility for timely contact with prospects and clients without close supervision
  • Prepare quotes from multiple carriers and interact with prospects and clients in answering questions while ensuring appropriate coverage is offered to provide adequate insurance protection
  • Write, place and close business in an efficient manner while also ensuring higher than normal risk is avoided in the book
  • Meet or exceed individual call volume, service and production goals, as established by agency management, on a consistent basis for new and renewal business
  • Review current book of business for up-sell, account round, or cross-sell opportunity to round out relationship and improve agency retention; including requesting referrals from family members, friends and other sources
  • Complete policy reviews, including service requests, cancellations and endorsements with a focus on retaining business
  • Maintain complete and accurate client profiles; document all transactions to ensure successful compliance audits
  • Operate in a total team environment with the prospect and client's best interests in mind at all times by interacting positively with internal and external teams including insurance carrier, agency personnel, and affiliate and parent company team members

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 3 years of personal lines experience in a full-service agency; commercial lines experience would be considered a plus
  • Current Texas General Lines Agency Property and Casualty license
  • Working knowledge of insurance forms, coverage, ratings, and regulations, multiple carrier underwriting guidelines, appetite, and website
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications 
  • Strong sales and closing skills
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to function in a fast pace, total team environment 
  • Ability to show history of solid sales skills, cross selling ability and high quality service proficiency
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and normal underwriting practices

Preferred:

  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
