JOB PURPOSE:

The QA Manager is responsible for ensuring quality at DRB. The position manages a team of software and hardware quality assurance professionals. As a technical leader, this role understands and defines a quality assurance strategy that ensures stable, quality and performant business solutions. Maintains and raises manual, automation and performance standards by mentoring and reviewing the work of the QA team and recruiting top talent as part of a high-performance organization. Partners with business team members to understand market requirements and provide quality assurance processes to reach company goals. Provides direction, coaching, and guidance to ensure that assignments are distributed across the team in a manner that optimizes team throughput. Exercises broad leadership and accountability including quality strategy oversight, resource planning and allocation, software and data lifecycle management, and performance and stability focus.

  • Leads the quality strategy of projects and ongoing support of highly usable, innovative, company products.
  • Organizes and directs quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborates with leadership team members to prioritize quality initiatives through regular communication.
  • Drives quality focus on multiple, high-priority projects to completion based on both system and customer requirements.
  • Serves as escalation point for quality and stability concerns. Implements new or revised solutions through QA team members improve quality. 
  • Works to research market requirements for quality solutions, works to procure and implement them.
  • Recruits staff and manages ongoing performance for continued company and employee success.
  • Assures ongoing training and development to achieve the company’s and employee’s objectives.
  • Provides performance feedback through both informal and formal review sessions.
  • Helps drive quality choices to ensure efficient and effective results.
  • Removes barriers for quality assurance team on a proactive basis.
  • Analyzes data and recommends improvements for performance, quality, and stability of applications.
  • Assists with departmental budget as well as strategic and functional plans.
  • Drives consistency of adoption of agile and quality practices, coordinating with Technology peers across the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree, associate degree or trade school program graduate focusing on Computer Science, Data, Engineering or Management Information Systems

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 6+ years in a quality assurance testing role. 2+ years managing a QA or IT team

CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Foundational level testing certification from ISTQB or similar organization.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, technically challenging, cross-functional software organizations in a leadership capacity.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with business leaders, executives, external clients, vendors and peers.
  • People first leadership mentality and adept at balancing team development and execution of quality charters
  • Demonstrated ability of understanding the customer along with expert-level technical knowledge of software development methodologies
  • Refined problem-solving skills when working with executives, staff and cross-functional teams on projects and applications.
  • Excellent project planning skills with ability to execute multiple, concurrent fast paced initiatives on time and within budget.
  • A thorough background understanding the entire developmental process for successful implementation which includes specification, documentation, quality assurance and deployment
  • Ability to build relationships across cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively with different seniority levels as well as varying communication styles.
  • Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
