Surgery Researcher - (783223)

Description

The Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center is currently recruiting for a research faculty member to perform basic research and carry out independent projects. This individual will be required to focus on pioneering strategies aimed at enhancing the five-year survival rate among patients diagnosed with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Your exploration will persist in investigating the hypothesis that intrinsic or DAMP-mediated acquired resistance to apoptosis constitutes a pivotal factor contributing to the shortcomings of current chemotherapy-based interventions for this disease. In collaboration with colleagues at UTSW, this individual will delineate the molecular mechanisms underlying ferroptosis and cuproptosis, while concurrently assessing the effectiveness of targeting these non-apoptotic forms of cell death in pancreatic cancer therapy. Additionally, we anticipate that contributions to the study of DAMPs and immune pathways in trauma and sepsis will significantly enhance the overall objectives of the Department.
