Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design seeks a highly motivated individual to join our Materials Testing group. As a Asphalt Services Supervisor, you will bring your expertise and unique solutions to highly visible and challenging projects. You will also work in a team of dedicated Laboratory and Field technicians, Project Managers, Principals and other Engineers. If you have a solid understanding of construction materials, plant operations, coring and laboratory testing principles with a asphalt focus, and a desire to work on multi-disciplinary projects, apply today! Responsibilities
- Manage day to day operations of the Asphalt Laboratory and Field operations including but not limited to supervising staff, coordination with other groups for staffing; new project review and setup; ensuring staff are prepared and have required information the day prior to work assignments; update workload; daily internal and external communication; project scheduling and lookahead coordination.
- Project management including proposals, budget control and review/approval of invoices.
- Generate, input units, calculate and compile laboratory testing reports and issue to clients.
- Coordinate / Perform the drilling and testing of all asphalt coring projects.
- Coordinate / Perform the drilling of all concrete coring projects and deliver cores to concrete lab for testing.
- Coordinate / Perform Asphalt Plant inspections & issuance of report to client/PM.
- Coordinate / Perform Traffic Control for asphalt projects and other group projects.
- Maintain documentation for and perform testing as required during AASHTO Re:Source Inspections.
- Equipment calibrations & maintenance for asphalt lab.
- Ensure that labs are clean and adequately stocked.
- Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients and team members.
- Work Environment may require regular exposure to ALL outside weather conditions, moderate to loud noise conditions, exposure to heights. Lifting weights of up to 75 lbs.
- Some weekend and overtime work may be required; some limited overnight and interstate travel may be required with this position.
Qualifications
- 2-6 years’ experience.
- NJSAT Asphalt Plant Technologist Level 1 and 2.
- Laboratory testing experience is a plus.
- Following certifications a plus: Traffic Control Training, Flagger Training, Nuclear Density Gauge Operator; NJSAT Asphalt Placement Field Technician; American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Strength, Floor Flatness certification.
- Candidate must have consistent means of transportation to and from the office with a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Drug testing may be required.
