Position Overview

Position Summary

Under direct supervision assists in the coaching and management duties for the Men’s Soccer Program. 

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists and participates in the organization and management of the program
  • Oversight of monitoring and supporting student-athletes in academic progress 
  • Assists in recruitment of student-athletes recruitment in accordance with NCAA rules
  • Oversight of the use and maintenance of all men’s soccer related facilities, equipment, and gear
  • Oversight of planning and arranging team travel and may perform other administrative duties as appropriate
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred 
  • At least one year of related experience required
  • A valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment is also required, as well as the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and road conditions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated coaching skills in area of sporting specialty
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with student athletes
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable sports and playing rules
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  • Goalkeeper experience, preferred

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions: 

  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

Insurance

Insurance for Eastern New Mexico University is offered through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority. High coverage and low coverage options are offered for medical and dental insurance so employees can choose the plan that’s right for them.

  • Health insurance is offered through both Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and the Presbyterian Health Plan

Retirement

Eastern New Mexico University participates with the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB), Social Security, and Medicare.

The University also offers supplemental retirement plans. 403b plans are available through TIAA/CREF, AIG VALIC, and MetLife. 475b plans are offered through TIAA/CREF.

Paid Time Off

Full time exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month. Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave. Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees. Temporary employees do not accrue leave.

Employee Educational Assistance Plan Eastern New Mexico University offers a tuition waiver for regular employees and retirees. This program waives the tuition for one course (up to four credit hours) per semester. Employees' spouses may be eligible to use the tuition waiver during any semester that it is not being used by the employee.
