JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Strategic Sourcing will oversee all sourcing related activities and processes associated with the acquisition of materials and services of fresh food, packaging, and restaurant supplies. This includes requirements gathering, sourcing, creating and issuing Request for Proposal (RFP), proposal evaluation, contract negotiations, vendor relationship management, distribution services management, contract drafting and administration. Functionally responsible for ensuring compliance with Freddy’s sourcing policies and processes as well as Freddy’s ethical and legal business practices.

This is an in-office position in our Ft. Worth, TX office or in our Wichita, KS support center.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Define and implement supplier management and compliance programs including SLAs (Service Level Agreements), and pricing for products for fresh food products and ingredients, packaging, and restaurant supplies.
  • Source fresh food ingredients, packaging, and restaurant supplies for menu assortment while managing to budget and maximizing spend via RFPs and contract/pricing negotiations.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for designated categories.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure optimal pricing, secure supply to meet restaurant demands and margins, and other optimal terms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of products and resolve any issues that arise. 
  • Analyze market trends, assess supplier performance, and evaluate the impact of external factors on the procurement of products.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and improve cost-effectiveness. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and advancements in technology related to the procurement of products. 
  • Understand and recommend high impact projects for existing and emerging products and services that drive meaningful results: reduce cost and risk and improve quality. 
  • Interview potential suppliers and determine if supplier is qualified to produce and/or supply products or services. Includes a review of supplier's production capability, ability to meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and financial background.
  • Work with supplier during testing of the product or service. Coordinates and communicates company recommendations and revisions for the product or service. Shares forecasts for ingredient orders and ensures timely delivery of products via distribution network.
  • Project management - works with suppliers and cross functional teams to address product needs for various projects, LTO
  • (limited time offers), and promotional plans. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelors/4yr. degree
  • YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 5+ years
  • YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 2+ years

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics,
  • Food and Beverage, or other related field.
  • Solid background in retail, foodservice or restaurants, fresh foods, material planning, distribution, or private brands sourcing/buying experience with product manufacturers. 
  • Excellent forecasting, supply chain, logistics, vendor management and contract negotiation abilities.
  • Candidate should have a strong sense of urgency, high standards of excellence, able to influence others and manage conflict, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, clear communication and follow-up skills, analytical approach to decision-making process. 
  • Proficient with MS Office suite - advances skills in MS Excel.
