The Department of Music at Carleton College invites applications for a position (0.7 FTE, non-tenure-track, eligible for health benefits) as Instructor of Folk Guitar beginning September 1, 2024. We seek a dynamic teacher and performer with an understanding of, and commitment to, teaching music performance in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. The successful applicant will hold a masters degree in music or commensurate experience as a performer and educator. The primary teaching activity involves weekly, private lessons in both flatpicking and finger-style guitar. The ability to teach banjo, dobro, mandolin, fiddle or classical guitar is also desirable. Additional teaching opportunities may include bi-weekly group lessons and coaching small student ensembles. We are particularly interested in candidates committed to teaching a diverse student body.
