Overview

The Department of Behavioral Science within the School of Health Sciences at Touro University invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the MS in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate in Behavior Analysis programs. This position is effective July 2024. The University places a high priority on teaching excellence and on research, with an expectation that the candidate will also be active in their professional field. We offer a course sequence for students that is both ABAI-approved for students who are seeking the BCBA, and NYSED-approved to offer students eligibility for the New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst credential. The successful candidate will be expected to support our growing student population through teaching, advising, collaborating on research initiatives, and will work in collaboration with other programs within the department.

Responsibilities

The faculty member will be expected to develop applications of the ABA model, assist in recruitment of students, teach graduate classes, conduct research and publish in scholarly journals. This position entails institutional responsibilities to teaching, service, and scholarship for 10 months over the course of a year. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise graduate and certificate student field placements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with programs in schools and institutions.
  • Recruit and vet placement sites.
  • Visit placement sites around NYC and Long Island for quality service and integrity checks.
  • Serve on program, department, School of Health Sciences, and University committees.
  • Develop training and/or research grant proposals.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the field.
  • Teach full-time graduate and certificate level Behavior Analysis courses.
  • Engage in research/scholarly activity at a level appropriate to rank.
  • Supervise students, and/or perform other assignments as approved by the Program Director/Chair.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, advise students, provide service to the program, the Department of Behavioral Science and the Touro community.

Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training

  • Doctoral degree in behavior analysis, education, or psychology. Candidates with degrees in education or psychology should have an academic concentration in behavior analysis.
  • BCBA or BCBA-D with supervision training is required as well as New York LBA license or license eligibility.
  • Experience teaching applied behavior analysis at the graduate level.
  • Background conducting single-subject scholarly research.
  • Experience applying behavior analytic principles in clinical settings with individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
  • History of, or evidence of, promise in scholarship appropriate for the discipline.
  • University teaching and supervisory experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • SPSS skills essential, data analysis knowledge in Excel a plus.
  • Internet journal library and Google Scholar search experience.

Travel

  • Travel between meetings at multiple locations
  • Travel around NYC and Long Island to visit student practicum sites.

Maximum Salary

USD $83,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $66,400.00/Yr.
