The Rotch Field Supervisor position reports to the Director of Facilities and will supervise the daily operations and use of the Rotch Field. This role will lead and oversee the team that maintains the field, including building and setting up equipment for on-field activities and enforcing on-field rules and regulations. This is an important role that requires reliability and the ability to confidently interact and engage with a diverse population.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Ensure that the facility is opened and closed at the appropriate time each day, according to the relevant procedures.
  • Ensure that the field and related facilities are ready for daily use.
  • Enforce on-field rules and regulations, supervising athletes and spectators as necessary.
  • Identify field conditions and repair needs, reporting required repairs to the Facilities Department.
  • Perform on-field and building maintenance.
  • Determine if the field is in suitable condition for sports activities, depending on factors such as weather and field damage.
  • Build and set up equipment for on-field activities.
  • Provide college athletic teams access to the Fieldhouse and equipment.
  • Coordinate Rotch staff scheduling.
  • Coordinate with City of Boston officials for inspections of water, fire alarm, and security systems as necessary.
  • Perform minor groundskeeping duties.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other personnel and departments as necessary to resolve issues pertaining to permits, conditions, or problems.
  • Respond to the requests of permit holders as required.
  • Perform administrative work as necessary.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 24 years of previous experience in a related or comparable position which demonstrates performance of supervisory skills, rules enforcement, public interaction, or facilities management required.
  • Experience in a sports facility preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience using MS Outlook preferred.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job. 

  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and the ability to learn new software easily.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse population.
  • Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and on holidays is required.

  • This position is active in nature; continuous movement is required.
  • Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with patrons, coworkers, and supervisors is essential.
  • Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping, climbing, and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be expected.

WORK ENVIRONMENT – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • This position works both outdoors and in general office and indoor conditions.
  • Exposed to moderate noise levels.

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position will be between $ 24.30 - $ 29.15 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: 23-06NE

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.00
