As a social work/MHC intern you will work with the interdisciplinary team to assist participating individuals with various levels of serious and persistent mental illness. You will learn and support consumers in a trauma informed, recovery oriented, and person-centered manor.
Please Note: Duties are varied based on site. The Intern will receive instruction and training from employees and supervisors on processes and procedures.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of assigned consumers to document strengths, needs, goals, and resources. Social work intern will be responsible for documenting all contact with consumer in a strength-based manor.
- Provides engagement and treatment to consumer through telephonic and in-person meetings. Some interns may provide services in the field, as well.
- Maintains effective communications with clients, primary care physicians, substance abuse and mental healthcare providers, family, collateral resources and other agency staff on behalf of clients.
- Advocates on behalf of consumer with outside service providers and within ICL.
- Attends and participates in team meetings to provide input/feedback around psychosocial and medical conditions conditions/comorbidities to review client status, update plans and goals, review outcomes to further program goals.
- Participates in individual and group supervision, treatment team meetings, case conferences, and other staff development activities as assigned.
