About The Position: 

This position will be responsible for providing instructional design training and development support to faculty, both in groups and individually, who are integrating technology into their courses. The person holding this position helps foster a climate of learning and ongoing skill and course development, with an emphasis on universal design, outcomes assessment, and ADA compliance among Plattsburgh faculty through the integration of technology into instruction (when appropriate), with a special focus on supporting online learning. Information Technology Services (ITS) provides exceptional technology services and solutions that enrich the student experience, advance teaching and learning, improve outcomes, and effectively manage and protect institutional data. ITS supports all technology needs inside and outside of the classroom and handles administrative computing, enterprise application management, network, and telecommunications, as well as card access and data center infrastructure. Required Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a closely related field
  • One (1) year minimum experience in the field of instructional design/educational technology (including designing, developing, and delivering technology-based instructional projects and programs) in higher education, k-12, or private training industry
  • Thorough knowledge of Universal Design concepts and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and compliance
  • Knowledge of learning theory, instructional design theory, adult learning theory, and distance learning theory; and experience applying that knowledge in instructional design
  • Experience or academic coursework in the design, development, review, and evaluation of course materials, as well as in the creation of course and program evaluation instruments
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to promote university standards, accessibility, and instructional design principles, policies, and procedures
  • Working knowledge of various educational and assistive technologies and learning content authoring tools, and the ability to design instructional materials delivered in different systems
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment and be able to establish strong relationships with clients and stakeholders and be self-motivated to provide leadership in promoting best practices of instructional design across all campus modalities
  • Ability to direct or manage multiple projects and activities
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree related to Instructional Design/Technology
  • Experience evaluating, purchasing, and maintaining assistive technology, and training users
  • Documented ability to guide faculty through the course development process using current literature on best practices
  • Professional experience developing multimedia learning materials (both printed and video tutorials)
  • Familiarity with Brightspace learning management system— especially experience with creating and managing learning objectives and competencies at the program and institutional level
  • Functional expertise in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (examples of work may be requested)
  • Teaching experience at the college/university level

Salary $65,000 minimum, plus excellent benefits
