Essential Job Functions

The Finance Coordinator will provide a wide range of financial and accounting administration support, including reviewing/processing Firm-approved sponsorship payments and payments from the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation, and preparing management reports/information. This individual will interact with personnel at all levels in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Assist with reviewing/processing payments, including assembling required paperwork and entering/reviewing payment requests in Chrome River.
  • Review bank statement activity and complete monthly accounting schedules and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting department and other Firm personnel as required to ensure payments are made on a timely basis and that rush requests are handled daily.
  • Complete New Vendor forms as required.
  • Confirm tax ID numbers on the IRS website and contact charities as required to obtain information.
  • Respond to inquiries from the Foundation Board, partners, associates, and staff regarding Firm approved sponsorship payments and payments from the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation.
  • Assist with the administration of the Employee Matching Program, including tracking matching requests and verifying matching limits.
  • Compose, type, and proofread correspondence, memos, and emails.
  • Handle clerical duties of filing, copying, scanning, and opening/routing of mail.
  • Assist with special projects; work associated with special projects will vary and will be assigned as the individual demonstrates skills to handle additional responsibilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS) in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • The Finance Coordinator will have at least 2 years of finance experience; experience with a charitable organization or law firm is preferred.
  • This position interacts with employees at all levels and requires a strong customer service orientation. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence is imperative.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, and will be required to maintain confidentiality.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills are required; familiarity with the 3E Elite financial system and Chrome River expense and invoice management application is highly desirable. 
  • The individual should be flexible in order to handle time sensitive requests, including periodic needs outside of standard working hours. The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.
  • A desire to learn new skills and to expand their skills over time is necessary.
