The Director of College Planning and Placement will provide strategic guidance and oversight in all aspects of college planning and placement for IMG Academy students through strong internal/external collaboration, leadership, and execution. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Lead, mentor, develop and inspire College Planning and Placement team to proactively work with students, families and coaches through the college planning and placement process 
  • Work to establish strong partnerships with internal resources including coaches, registrar, admissions, etc. diligently following up to ensure that our student athletes are on track for successful placement 
  • Represent IMG Academy and its students through active participation in college counseling professional organizations and takes a leadership role in meetings, committees, and workshops.
  • Build and foster strong relationships with selective college admission offices throughout the United States and abroad to continually expand IMG Academy collegiate relationships
  • Work to create and cultivate a successful college placement program for IMG students by creating a resource-rich, educational, communicative environment with a track record of consistent achievement
  • Provide regular reports to the Head of School
  • Stay current with trends in college admission, higher education, and national testing
  • Educate and inform students, parents, and staff about college options, recruiting processes, admissions standards, and compliance with NCAA and other applicable guidelines
  • Create a system in terms of meeting with students, parents, coaches, and faculty, individually and in groups, to understand each individual’s college choices and preferences
  • Manage all college placement office data, systems, and records, while ensuring the confidentiality of all information(Data includes but is not limited to college acceptance, scholarships received and college athletic participation)
  • Plan and execute key campus events regarding college placement, commitment, acceptance
  • Promote a positive environment and lead with integrity and commitment ,abiding by the rules and policies of IMG, the NCAA, FHSAA and all governing bodies
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethic codes
  • Other duties as assigned 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area 
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience as a secondary school college counselor and/or admissions office at a collegiate or university level. 
  • Extensive experience with colleges, academic and athletic programs, admissions policies, and financial aid procedures 
  • Strong understanding of NCAA and other governing regulations that pertain to student-athlete college placement and initial eligibility 
  • Ability to track and advance students through college placement process 
  • Excellent public speaking, interviewing, advising, written correspondence and publication development skills 
  • Excellent skills in managing details, deadlines, programs, people, and large quantities of information in a proactive, timely, organized, calming and effective manner
  • Experience with computer applications, including MS Office, CRM, and presentation programs
  • Understanding of college placement process for international students 
  • Experience in hiring, motivating, and developing teams
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Ability to foster collaborative work environment 

Preferred Skills 

  • Master’s degree in relevant subject area 
  • Experience as a collegiate student-athlete &/or coach 
  • Bi-lingual 
  • Strong connections with staff at NCAA member schools 
  • Knowledge of latest trends in college admissions and in college planning and placement methodologies and technologies 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Must be able to move around campus including school, gym, fields/courts, etc. 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as required 
  • This is a 12-month, full-time position.
