How you make a difference

As a Certified Medication Aide, the primary responsibility is to assist with the administration of medications, maintain medication inventory, and ensure the safe storage of pharmaceutical items. The role requires close supervision and adherence to established policies and procedures for medication administration. Additionally, the Certified Medication Aide may be responsible for documentation related to medication administration and other routine duties. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications and adhere to safety principles and infection control techniques. 
  • Document medication administration and maintain a clean and orderly medication cart. 
  • Participate in data collection and performance improvement activities related to medication administration. 
  • Report adverse patient reactions and adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. 
  • Reorder and replace medications and supplies as needed to perform job responsibilities. 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • High School graduate or equivalent. 

Experience

  • 1 year related experience in a medical environment preferred. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have current CPR Certification, and be certified as a Medication Aide in the state within which services are provided.
