We have an opening within Envoy's affiliated law firm CIP P.C. for a dedicated Business Immigration Paralegal to work on-site within our inviting Downtown Cincinnati (Ohio) office.
Reporting to a dedicated and personable Managing Attorney, as an Immigration Paralegal, you will be required to analyze information and documents and prepare/compile immigration petitions and applications for Attorney review. You will also handle straightforward client/foreign national communications regarding case processing and status.
This is a full time, permanent role, for someone who is suitably experienced, with a strong work ethic, and empathy.
But first, let us tell you more about your key responsibilities, as our preferred candidate:
- Ensure effective document intake: I.e., Review documents for validity and sufficiently analyze immigration status based on documents provided during intake
- Ensure accountability for the heavy drafting of case documents, statutory forms, and templated letters of support, as per strict deadlines for a range of NIVs and PERM applications (end to end)
- Flag any potential/foreseeable case-related issues with Attorney in a timely manner
- Utilize online immigration case tracking system to monitor case status and activities on a daily basis
- Draft responses to requests for evidence
- Coordinate with Client Support Specialists the printing, scanning, and posting of cases, and service requests
- Respond to client communication requests – either via client contact, or directly with the foreign national
- Prioritize daily workload based on fluctuating client deadlines, whilst maintaining an appropriate sense of urgency
- Flag any ideas for process improvements and modifications to appropriate attorney/team leader
- Assist other team members with case or document preparation, as required
- Contribute to positive team morale, even within a remote work environment
- Other relevant Paralegal duties, upon request.
To APPLY for this role and be under consideration, you should ideally possess the following (please read carefully):
- 1-2 full years of experience working as an Immigration Paralegal drafting employment-based petitions
- A genuine interest in US immigration, with a desire to treat clients & foreign nationals with respect and an empathetic approach
- Experience with drafting H1B petitions and working through H1B CAP
- Experience with drafting petitions for a range of other NIV & IV cases preferred: Ls, TNs, EB2s, EB3s, EB1-Cs, etc. and/or experience with drafting other green cards (I-140 and AOS, and end-to-end)
- Willingness to learn/be trained in cases you are less familiar with working on
- Experience working with 20-50 active cases at any one time (approximately)
- Excellent written + verbal English communication skills, including spelling and grammar
- Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent accuracy of work
- Experience communicating directly with clients (HR staff) and/or foreign nationals regarding case requirements
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize caseload
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to adapt to state-of-the-art Envoy case processing software to monitor and record all visa petitions
- Ability to follow due process, templates, and to adapt to evolving innovation within the Firm, and Industry
- Minimum Intermediate level proficiency with MS Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word).
