Our Amsterdam Data Services team supports an eclectic group of users with a wide variety of tools for ingress, storage, management and use of all the data generated by our trading. Data informs all of our trading decisions.

Your Core Responsibilities: 

• Software engineering: create, maintain and run a suite of data services and libraries built in-house; we are constantly improving these and creating new ones where needed.
• Building new optimization rules in our query engines. Exploring portable table management with Iceberg
• Operational excellence for data: ensuring that our data systems are running smoothly so that all the data is ingested continuously, persisted reliably and used efficiently by:
• Ensuring a feedback loop for data usage so we find the gaps
• Implementing systematical checks for redundancy
• Creating standards
• Coordinate, prioritize and plan the changes to our trading software to ensure smooth exchange migrations and quick time to market for new features and software

Within a complex landscape of varying systems and technologies, you’ll be constantly challenged to consider trade-offs between latency, throughput, simplicity, scalability and maintainability.

Your Skills and Experience: 

• > 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Data Engineer
• Strong Java/JVM software development skills
• Python development skills are considered a plus
• Experience with Docker is required. Experience with Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with Kafka, Dremio and Spark is considered a plus
• A knack for troubleshooting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A proactive attitude and a strong drive to learn and develop yourself
